Fashion trends change every year and wedding fashion is no different. At the top designer wedding shows this year the verdict was overwhelmingly for “Sheer !” The highlight of the catwalks was Vera Wang’s dress which was dubbed “the totally transparent wedding dress”.
As with all the designer looks they will be translated to the high street and therefore ladies - look out as the national average of a women in Great Britain is a size 14 get ready to get your nude spandex dusted out from your drawers, be prepared to squeeze and squash every inch of skin into the miracle lycra underwear that is now available to help us look like the Angelena Jolies of this world because we are going to need it!
Will you go for the new fashion look? Are you brave enough? I have photographed a couple of fashion bridal shoots recently for two designers Valour & Valkyrie(black dress) & Watters Label at Helena Fortley Bridal Shop with the model Charlotte. As I think you will agree from these two examples she looks stunning and the new style works for her. When asked which dress she felt most bare in surprisingly she said the pale pink dress with the see through netting at the front, “ the black dress didn’t feel daring at all I think because of the colour and the fact I couldn’t see my back”.
This may suggest then it is all in the mind and about how confident you feel with your own body. I feel I have gained a little wisdom over the years as a wedding photographer and I have encountered many wonderful brides, and I know you want to please your man but please do think practically as well. Do you want to give your father in law an early heart attack, is it sexy to reveal too much? Can you sit down and eat in the dress or if you are big busted wear some straps to make you feel more comfortable because believe me on the wedding day you and that dress should be the most comfortable it can be for you to enjoy your day to the absolute max. Celebrate the fact that your body shape whatever it may be is great and that the more confident you are the sexier you will feel. So whatever your size if you do decide to Dare to Bare do it with confidence and style.
