As we plunge into a new year, the weather once again has been awful, my heart goes out to anyone who's homes have been flooded recently. This sets me to thinking about how I take photographs in the British weather. Actually it isn't all that bad. The secret is to be well prepared, to have sussed out where you are going to take your shot first. It also is very important to wrap up warm and have the correct clothes and props available ie. wellies & umbrellas. The light with rain is usually flat so I like to pop in some fill in flash this lightens up the whole photograph and creates an atmospheric image if done right. Snow is very difficult especially with a white dress generally you need to under expose to pick up all the detail in the photo that you are creating.
However it can be great fun and as long as you are all OK and are wearing the appropriate gear and you are quick it can create some fabulous images. Here are a couple of mine:
